The Ferris Wheel at Fun Town Pier, Seaside Heights Photographed the Night Before it was Torn Down After Hurricane Sandy | Kristen Driscoll, Seaside Heights, NJ Photographer

I live very close to the Asbury Park, NJ Beach and Boardwalk which was affected by Hurricane Sandy, but not as badly as Seaside Heights was. When I think Seaside Heights, I am reminded of my Father, Tom, and the countless trips we would take here. Nights on the boardwalk and rides, every single summer including his last one in 2007. We would stay at motels like The Luna Mar and when we weren’t having dinner on the boardwalk (cheese steaks & lemonade) we would often dine at Klee’s, a few blocks west of the boardwalk. Sometimes, to feel closer to my Dad, I’ll take a trip to Seaside and eat at Klee’s. Last night was the first time I’ve been to Seaside since Sandy. I felt compelled to take a trip there. I had NO IDEA that the Ferris Wheel would be torn down TODAY. As I was typing up this blog post (current time is 2:45pm on April 18, 2013) I took a moment to check out Facebook, and saw this: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=563803806974969

I am so glad that I was able to see it one last time. I am so, so thankful.
