Artist Britanny James’ 27 Series – Bands on a Budget – by Kristen Driscoll Photography { NJ Event / ROCK Photographer }

Brittany James is a great friend of mine.

I’m truly blessed to have such talented individuals in my family of friends. Britt will actually be a “Senior Flower Girl” in my upcoming wedding. Shh Shh. You’ll hear more about THAT when the time is right.

RIGHT NOW is time to bask in the awesomeness of this amazing thing Britt did. She created 17 paintings based on artists that passed away at age 27 such as Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison. Two of Britt’s paintings were actually inspired by a photos I took : one of me in a bathtub with an awesome curtin reflection and one of a  friend (KAT!) with hand in pocket.. and painted that for the Jim Morrison photo.

Here are the photos from her event. I also photographed each painting individually and Brittany published them on her website, if you’d like to take a closer look (recommended). A special shout out to all the amazing bands that played at this show! And thank you to Bands on a Budget for your awesome space and support!

Of the many artists that performed I must give a shout out to my girl, Angie Sugrim of the Obvious (I was featured on their album photography for “Bringing Wreck, by the way ;D )… and when you scroll below, it’ll be obvious who she is. Also performing:  Dub Proof. John Alfonso! Karmic Juggernaut and more! <3

Yep ;D That’s my boyfriend (below).. Did I mention we met because he saw the photos I took of him performing, on Facebook? We physically met at the Saint. I turned around.. and he was dancing behind me. I said “Dance Party?” and we danced all night. Feb. 19 , 2010. Asbury Park, NJ.

I love how I captured intrinsically the SAME emotion in response to Angie (below). ROCK.
